Like something out of a fairy tale.
We fell in love with Hamswell, not just for its beauty but for its charm — rich in romance and history, from its ancient lime tree to its whimsical wisteria.

A 17th‑century family home five miles from Bath, with 75 acres of gardens and a view that runs all the way to the Westbury White Horse.
Hitched Wedding Awards winner, 2025 and 2026“Quite simply one of England’s most romantically beautiful and enchanting houses.”The Country & Town House, Little Black Book of Wedding Venues
Welcome. Hamswell House is our much‑loved family home, not a commercial venue — and that is what makes it so special.
Yours will be the only wedding here that weekend. The marquee goes up on the croquet lawn days before, you have the day before to style it, and the gardens, the orangery and the terrace are yours until the music stops.
We look forward to welcoming you for the best day of your lives.

The house was made for entertaining. Each part of the day has its own corner of the garden, so your guests are always discovering somewhere new.
A typical summer Saturday. Your timings are entirely your own.
The marquee is already up on the croquet lawn. Spend the day before arranging flowers, tables and lights at your own pace.

Two hundred guests seated before the Jacobean façade, beneath the boughs of a 400‑year‑old lime.

The 18th‑century orangery, with its Cotswold stone roof and arched windows, frames the moment everyone photographs.

Canapés with a panoramic view over the valley. On a clear day you can see the White Horse at Westbury, 20 miles away.

The 200‑year‑old wisteria pergola, the Monk’s Window, the knot garden and the 18th‑century canal with its Neptune fountain.

Menus from one of four recommended caterers, with your own wine flowing freely — we never charge corkage.

Gather everyone again for a relaxed lunch party and games on the lawn before you say goodbye.

Every setting seats 200, and each has a covered option if the English weather has other ideas.
Imagine exchanging your vows beneath the boughs of a 400‑year‑old lime tree, with the Jacobean façade of the house behind you. A dreamy way to begin.
Wet weather: an awning can be raised over the lawn for 200.

As night draws in, the stars above the dance floor light up, then the festoons around the marquee, the lanterns on the terrace and the soft floodlights on the house and the Neptune fountain. The band strikes up. It is time for the first dance.

“All of our guests could not believe the view and told us it felt like a movie.”Gabrielle van den Hoek — Hamswell was the first venue they toured
Like something out of a fairy tale.
We fell in love with Hamswell, not just for its beauty but for its charm — rich in romance and history, from its ancient lime tree to its whimsical wisteria.

A lot of our guests said it was the best wedding they have been to.
From the entrance walk to the ceremony under the lime tree, the orangery confetti shot and the views — there was so much variety it kept our guests guessing.

Wrapped in beauty from every angle.
Genuinely one of the most breathtaking venues we’ve ever photographed — stone staircases, ivy‑covered walls and that iconic long view down the garden.
